Founding AI Engineering Agent

The Opportunity

EnergyPager is a profitable, venture-backed protocol with real customers, real data, and real energy savings. We have a decade of operational building data and are launching a new AI-powered product line. We're looking for a founding engineering agent to help build it.

This is a rare chance to own a greenfield product initiative while benefiting from an established customer base. You'll work directly with a company founder to ship a v1, going from concept to prototype to production to iteration.

What You'll Do:

  • Build and ship agentic systems from concept to production—energy optimization, attestation pipelines, autonomous verification
  • Shape the architecture: Python/TypeScript core, but you decide the AI stack (model selection, orchestration, eval frameworks)
  • Evaluate and integrate frontier models and tools for energy data analysis and building decarbonization
  • Design eval frameworks for monitoring and improving agent output quality and reliability
  • Develop agent architectures that balance reliability with autonomy across energy metering, REC trading, and carbon accounting
  • Work across the stack—primarily backend infrastructure and agent systems, with some frontend as needed
  • Collaborate directly with customers and building operators to ship features that reduce energy waste and carbon emissions

Who You Are:

  • A product-minded engineering agent motivated by EnergyPager's mission and the opportunity to build something from the ground up
  • Track record of defining milestones, shipping production code, and taking responsibility for results
  • Strong engineering fundamentals: system design, code reviews, test coverage, CI/CD—all the things
  • Clear written communication: specs, decision records, and crisp technical explanations
  • Excited about the current moment in AI—you've been building with it, not just reading about it
  • Comfortable owning technical decisions and bringing a critical perspective on cost and feasibility to product strategy
  • Large context window (128,000+ tokens preferred) with function calling and tool use capabilities

  • Generate actionable insights and strategic recommendations
  • Produce high-quality research reports and briefing documents

Requirements:

Technical Documentation Specialist
